The sea, land, city, and mountain-scapes surrounding Vancouver make it an amazing location for landscape photography. Through a series of class discussions and field trips we will examine lighting, elements of composition, and creative camera techniques as tools to capture the essence of our scenes. The elements that distinguish a great landscape image are defined within the class. Practical assignments will motivate students to fine-tune their compositions. The workshop will conclude with a final project aimed at encouraging students to explore their photographic style.

Vancouver is surrounded by the botanical world. Combining both technical and artistic elements, this 7 week workshop will explore how to capture a variety of subjects. As we explore local gardens our aim is to beautifully capture subjects, whether they are in our flower pots, cultivated gardens, or city parks. Through class discussions and image critiques we will emphasize composition, explore close-up and wide angles, and make use of optimal light. Throughout the workshop students will be encouraged to explore, develop, and maintain their own style and independent practice.
*Students are asked to bring in 5 examples of botanical photography to the first class.
*Students may be required to pay for entrance fees into parks & gardens.
*Field trips may occur outside scheduled class time.
